Bosbok Safaris Current Affairs

Hello to all our extended Bosbok family in the USA.

As I write this it is a comfortable 82 degrees outside. I have the windows open, the birds are chirping and I can almost hear the grass growing! Phil in the meantime, is re-adapting to the icy conditions in Harrisburg PA after having taken a nice sojourn to Mexico for a week, where he was made to feel very welcome by special friends in Puerta Vallarta and managed to land a 180 pound yellow-fin tuna to-boot as well as a few prospective new clients! Now it's back to the grindstone of trying to sell safaris at the Eastern Outdoor Show at the Farm Show complex. He did not do too badly in Denver and Sacramento, though we are waiting for a few deposits to confirm dates.

Although things seem to be looking up, it is obvious to us that times are still pretty tough in the US. Thanks to mostly past clients and a few brave new ones, our bookings for 2011 don't look too bad. We have come to the conclusion that once people are assured that their hard-earned buck will be well spent and the risk of things going wrong is minimal, they book with us. Having a decent reputation and a loyal client base is a tremendous help here and we are eternally grateful to all who reply to enquiries from prospective clients with positive feedback. We still have dates pending in May and September of this year, so we hope to fill these within the next few weeks. 2012 is still pretty much open, so we will have to campaign hard for that during the course of 2011.

Finding reasonably priced buffalo to hunt in South Africa is getting harder and harder and we are considering looking to the north of us to fill this gap in our market. The landowners have become a little greedy in our opinion, but perhaps they will soon price themselves out of the market and will need to comply.

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank all those that have been so very kind, hospitable and generous to us while visiting the US over the years. In no particular order, these people are:
Russ and Karen Milleson
Mike Bethel
Jim and Susan Hetrick
Mike, Barb and Anna Fetterolf
Rowan and Borka Dickenson
Dan and Mary Simon
George and Pattie Kelschenbach
Terry McHenry
Kenny Piestrak and the gang in his booth

......I sincerely hope that there is no name left off this list. If you feel your name should be here somewhere, please feel free to rap me over the knuckles!

I will make an effort to do updates more frequently as I plan to install a program to make this easier for me to do from home.

Take care and please keep in touch!
